How to Get Your DVD or Book Projects done
I think we have come to the realization that waiting for free time to arrive is like waiting to win a lottery.
So, finding the right time to work on personal projects can be very difficult. I have found a way to get motivated and actually finish one project at a time. Take my new address book for example. I've been trying to make it for months. I decided one night to spend a half hour only just to get information on the pages. Well, as tired an unmotivated as I was, I soon realized that I was working on this project for two hours and accomplished a very creative address book with a calender page for each month;everyone's birthdays and even business numbers! I'm going to order two, one for home and one for travelling. I can reprint it every year with all the changes I want. I decided that when I think of how much is involved with our projects it gets overwhelming.
If you are working on a book or a DVD here are some tips to help you get started:
- Gather all your material into one place (all albums, loose photo's, discs, slides, documents, film etc.
- Sort out a Use and Do not Use pile. Then put the 'do not use' materials away.
- Organize your materials in order of dates, families, and themes (or topics you want).
- Decide on what you need help to digitize and what you will do yourself.
- Call us for any film, slide, photos and movie film conversions, express scanning etc.
- Once you have your materials ready, start to upload the digital materials onto your book website.
- If you are making a DVD, have your material in order with any dates, titles, music list etc.
- Call for help before you get overwhelmed.
- Pick an hour to work on your project every couple of days, even a half hour can get the ball rolling.
You will feel more motivated as you begin to see your project come together!
